Film

Documentary film forms the main focus of H+O Films’ activities. They have ranged from feature length films on displacement, memory and conflict (Bitter Lemons, Babushka) to short films about refugees and asylum seekers in London (Darfur House, Crocodiles Seeking Refuge). All seek to explore the complexities of historical and political issues through personal lives and testimonies.

Recently, our attention has turned to the possibilities of documentary film beyond the linear screen format. We are currently experimenting with documentary VR environments and non-linear narrative structures.

We believe that documentary practice has not only moved across disciplines (into art installations, verbatim theatre etc), but also across platforms into web interfaces and VR technology. We are committed to exploring these new forms, which is where our film practice and our research practice meet.
